Delete Your Account
This translation is provided for convenience; the English version prevails.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Study Music Theory lets you delete your account and its data at any time, from within the app.
⚠ This is permanent and immediate. Deletion cannot be undone. Your XP, streak, gems, achievements, lesson and review progress, leaderboard entry and league entries will all be permanently wiped. If you later create a new account, you will start from zero.
How to delete your account
Step 1. Open Study Music Theory
Sign in at studymusictheory.com (web) or open the Study Music Theory app on your phone or tablet and make sure you are signed in.
Step 2. Go to your profile
Tap the Me tab in the bottom navigation bar.
Step 3. Scroll to the bottom
Below the "Sign out" button you will see a red "Delete my account" button.
Step 4. Confirm twice
Tap the button. You will be asked to confirm, then asked to confirm again. This double confirmation protects you against accidental taps.
Step 5. Done
Your account is deleted, its data is wiped, and the app reloads to a fresh state.
What gets deleted
- Your Firebase Authentication record (your sign-in account, email address and display name)
- Your synced progress stored in Firestore (lesson, quiz and review progress, XP, streak and other game data)
- Your leaderboard entry (display name, XP, weekly XP, streak)
- Your entries in weekly league rooms (display name and scores)
- All app data stored on the device you used to delete
What may survive
- Local data on other devices. If you used Study Music Theory on several devices, deleting from one device only clears that device. To clean up the others, clear the browser data or uninstall the app on each of them.
- Subscriptions. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription. Cancel it in your store account settings.
- Service logs. Google Firebase may keep internal security logs for a limited period for anti-abuse purposes, under Google's own policies.
If the in-app button does not work
If the app asks you to "sign in again to confirm deletion", this is a security requirement — Firebase only allows account deletion for recently signed-in sessions. Sign back in and try again.
If you still cannot delete your account through the app, contact us via the support page with the subject "Account deletion request" and the email address you use to sign in. We will delete the account manually and confirm when it is done.
Deleting the app only
If you just want to uninstall the mobile app but keep your account (so your progress is there if you come back), uninstall it from your device as normal. Your account and synced progress will remain until you delete them.
